Montréal, December 14, 2017 – Tonight, hospitalized children, their families, the staff of the CHU Sainte-Justine and the campaign’s partners celebrated the final illumination of the 10th edition of the Sainte-Justine’s Tree of Lights. The incredible movement of solidarity that has united Quebecers for the past several days culminated in a record number of 146,749 lights of hope shining brightly this year, bringing a vivid message of comfort to the children and families who will be spending the holidays in hospital. Shining like a beacon, the tree will remain lit in their honour until January.

By making this final illumination the brightest ever in the history of the Sainte-Justine’s Tree of Lights, the whole province of Quebec has paid tribute to the 10th anniversary of the Tree of Lights and to those whose hearts it has comforted year after year. Marie-Soleil Michon and Sébastien Benoit of 105.7 Rythme FM were incredibly excited to unveil the results during the afternoon radio show Des hits dans l’trafic, broadcast live from the CHU Sainte-Justine.

“For ten years, we have been aiming ever higher. Once again this year, we are witnessing the tremendous generosity of Quebecers, and the Tree of Lights, shining so brightly, is an incredibly strong symbol,” said Ms. Maud Cohen, President and CEO of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. “Together, the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation’s donors, Rythme FM listeners, and Metro and Brault & Martineau customers have broken last year’s record, making this 10th edition the brightest yet!” she added.

Brilliant partners
Thanks to the collaboration and commitment of its generous partners, the Sainte-Justine’s Tree of Lights shines brighter than ever before! The CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation wishes to thank its loyal partner, Rythme FM, the campaign’s official broadcaster from the very beginning, as well as its main partner of the last four years, Metro, whose incredible mobilization of its customers and staff across its 201 Metro and Metro Plus grocery stores in Quebec made it possible to illuminate more than 40,000 lights!

The Foundation is also grateful for the commitment of its valued partners MEGA™, part of the Mattel® family, Brault & Martineau, Quebecor, Vidéotron and Trio Orange, who, through various initiatives, have contributed significantly to the success of the campaign.

Of course, the Tree of Lights would not have been so bright and magical without the incredible support of the artistic community, who came together with such enthusiasm to share tender moments with the hospitalized children during the daily illuminations.

Finally, the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation would like to thank, from the bottom of their heart, the families and staff at the CHU Sainte-Justine, as well as donors and Rythme FM listeners across Quebec, for their extraordinary contribution to the unprecedented achievement that this wonderful movement of solidarity represents.
